Owatonna Business Women is pleased to award several scholarships in each of the three categories. In 2025, OBW awarded fifteen $1,000 scholarships to women in Steele County. Scholarships will be awarded at the Woman of Achievement on March 14th at Spare Time Entertainment at 6:00 p.m. 

Deadline for application is January 31, 2026 at midnight.

Owatonna Business Women is pleased to award several scholarships to women pursuing post-secondary education.

Requirements:

  • Identify as female, U.S. citizen, attend a school within Steele County, MN for 30 days or more.
  • Graduating spring of 2026 from high school or the home-school equivalent
  • Accepted by a post-secondary college or technical school
  • Active in community or school activities
  • Financial need will be considered, but the award is primarily based on merit
  • Copy of school transcript (does not need to be a certified copy)
  • One letter of recommendation attesting to your personal qualifications and why you are an ideal candidate. Family members may not submit a letter of recommendation

$1,000 scholarship for women:

  • Starting post-secondary education after any length of time post high school
  • Returning to post-secondary education after any length of time
  • Continuing post-secondary education (i.e – sophomore/junior/senior in college)

Requirements:

  • Identify as Female, U.S. citizen, resident for 30 days or more of Steele County, Minnesota
  • Accepted by or currently attending a post-secondary college or technical school
  • Active in community or school activities
  • Financial need will be considered, but the award is primarily based on merit
  • If currently enrolled, copy of school transcript (does not need to be a certified copy)
  • One letter of recommendation attesting to your personal qualifications and why you are an ideal candidate. Family members may not submit a letter of recommendation



Completing a High School Senior or Continuing Education Aspiring Women Application

Complete the online application.

Once you have completed the application, make a copy for your records. Submit (1) a letter of recommendation and (2) your most recent transcript via email to obwscholarship@gmail.com. Please title the subject of your email "Last Name Scholarship Application."

Please note this is a dedicated email created to accept applications submitted electronically and will only be seen by the appropriate committee.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by phone. 

$120 scholarship to cover the cost of GED Testing for deserving women in Steele County. 

Requirements:

  • Identify as Female, U.S. citizen, resident for 30 days or more of Steele County, Minnesota.
  • Financial need is the main consideration for GED Scholarships. Women who want to continue pursuing their post-secondary education after receiving their GED will be given priority
